We had renovations done to our club basement. The company removed the chair to pull carpet and install stair treads.

They put the chair to fair from the walk which makes the limited staircase really tight. Also chair needs maintenance since it has never been looked at since installed

Service Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I am a residential customer with two Acorn Stairlifts installed in my home for my aged parents. While the product is generally a good product with occassional minor defects, their customer service, after sales service and warranty related services are very hard to reach, unreliable, expensive and borderline FRADULENT.

They sell various (one/two/three star) levels of annual warranty service (starting $250+/yr) and promise that if the annual warranty service is maintained continuously without a break in coverage - all parts and labor (excl. battery) are included in the fee (upto max $1500/yr for one-star). However, if you have a failure they find various excuses to not honor the coverage. They are preying on the elderly and taking advantage of a vulnerable population.

Their phone answering system is frequently broken and results in hours/days wasted in getting hold of their service personnel. Voicemails are unattended and call backs during emergency are non-existent. Service appointments are often weeks/months out and frequently rescheduled, making it practically useless if a person is dependent on the product to go up/dn stairs.

BEWARE WHEN PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT.

THIS IS AN OVERPRICED PRODUCT THAT IS NOT BACKED BY GOOD MANAGEMENT. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR ADVERTISEMENT AND MARKETING GIMMICKS !!!

Phone calls to the local dealer and office in New York were not returned, not answered, and voicemails were ignored. Rescheduling of the sales representative was impossible. The company seems shady at best but perhaps it's going out of business.

Stair is stuck at the bottom of the staircase blocking front door.

My stair is stuck at the bottom of the staircase and the front door wont open. I called and requested a service call for Monday.

They said they would call me back.

In the meantime they talked me into a service contract that I would now like to cancel. They ran my card but neglected to return my call and help me out.

Bought an acorn lemon stair lift for my critically ill husband in 2015

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought an acorn lemon stair lift for my critically ill husband in 2015.

My husband passed away in 2016 and probably use the stair lift three or four times before it stopped working. Over the last several years I have had numerous repair representatives To my home.

It has never worked for more than three or four runs at a time before I had to call again for service.

Each time they came out they charge me several hundred dollars. Got the chair up and running (Never quite up to par)

But functional.

After a year they told me the chair was old! This is a barely used chair that cost me Thousands of dollars to install. I bought their so-called top-of-the-line chair that was able to be upgraded with its computers.

Each time they came out they tried to sell me something else. I feel the whole acorn stair lift company is a complete disaster and fraud. Its disgraceful that they take Advantage of the sick and the elderly. Very very disappointed.

Today they told me theyll sell me another service contract for just under a mere $800 and it will hold me for 12 months!

Dont get caught up in their lies.

This is a terrible product. When it works its great but sadly it never works

Victimized by Acorn

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My brother who has MS. Saved his money for an Acorn chairlift, 10k.

The salesperson would help after the sale. The chair is less than a month old and it stop running. We were told that the technician will have to replace the battery and it will cost us an additional $250. Its brand new.

They that the battery is not part of the warranty. How can that be when it came with the product. They are using it as an excuse so they can charge us $250 each tome it dies during a rolling blackout here in CA. Buyer beware this company will not care about you after they have your money.

All they care about is making money off of you. This is criminal and should be reported.

Poor quality and lack of customer support.

Chair installed promptly. Circuit board failed within warranty.

Support person came to house and replaced board. Wanted minimum of $450.00! Warranty?

One year later board died again. $450.00 just for service person to come to house.

(We had paid for extended warranty). Wanted $200.00 for batteries, $450.00 service charge and almost $1.000.00 for the circuit board!

Don't buy Acorn chair or extended warranty package!

5 weeks after installation it stopped working

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Im 86 years old with major health problems. Ive had a chair lift for many years but had to replace my old one on 09/10/2021 so I went with an Acorn lift.

The salesperson I dealt with had to call to find out how much it would cost me to have the old one removed, and it was $400. When the installer arrived, he told me he had never removed a lift that normally the VA removed &;;;;;;;;;;;;;; haul off old lifts. I had already loosened all the screws & bolt on the old lift and had to tell him how to remove the old lift. It took him 20 minutes to take it apart and place it out on my lawn.

I could have done the same thing, but I had to carry it out to the road behind my home for my local trash pickup. I am a retired Marine and have called the VA and they had no idea what I was talking about & that they do not remove and haul off stairlifts. That was problem #1 with Acorn.

Problem #2. 32 days after the new lift was installed (10/12/2021) the Acorn lift has stopped working.

It shows E7- T700 Model Low battery, move the lift down and park on the nearest charging contact. The lift wont move up until the E7 code is cleared. The lift is at the bottom which should be the charging contact, the charging contacts should be at the very bottom and top.

I have contacted Acorn about the problem and have been told someone would get back to me & that it sounds like the battery may need to be replaced. 32 days after installationthey have got to be kidding.

I am sorry. We also are a victim of Acorn. I do not know why the government steps in and *** this people down and refund the money to us all

Its true after a month it stopped working and we have to pay $250 for a replacement battery. My brother who has MS just moved in cannot use it go up to his bedroom.i hope some one will come as promise this coming Tuesday.

I am really mad that I let Acorn installed a stairlift, because after the sale is through. The salesperson will no longer help us. I wished the government can us all.

This company is scamming people like my brother. Acorn only cares about making money.
